Sports recovery, backed by research.

Recovery that's actually been studied, not just marketed. Robotic massage sessions built for athletes in Chicago and Miami.

15 to 60 minutes · Walk-ins welcome

Training is the easy part to commit to. Recovery is the part that gets skipped, until it catches up with you.

ARC Recovery brings AI-powered robotic massage to River North, Midtown Miami, and Brickell, built for the part of training most people shortchange. Here's what happens in a session, and what the research actually says about why it matters.

What a session looks like

Every session starts with a 3D body scan that maps your body before either arm moves. From there, you are in control.

Scan
A 1.1 million-point 3D body scan personalizes every session.
Pressure
You control it yourself from a screen at the table, full body or a focus area.
Time
15 to 60 minutes, for as long as your day allows.
Setup
No oil, no undressing. Fully clothed in a provided ARC Recovery Bodysuit, and no tipping.

That's the mechanism. Here's the research behind why athletes make it a habit.

What the research actually says.

Four questions athletes ask, answered with the evidence as it stands, including where it is thin.

Recovery

The strongest evidence

A 2017 meta-analysis of 11 randomized trials, more than 500 participants, found massage significantly reduced delayed-onset muscle soreness at 24, 48, and 72 hours after strenuous exercise, with the biggest drop at 48 hours. A larger 2025 review of nearly 1,500 participants found similar results: less pain, better range of motion, faster functional recovery.

This is also the one place consumer data backs up the lab data. Whoop's own member data shows massage logged as a recovery activity correlates with a measurable lift in Recovery score, and the effect is larger when the session happens closer to bedtime.

Sleep

Solid, if not sport-specific

Massage is consistently linked to lower cortisol, reduced anxiety, and longer, better-quality sleep across multiple clinical studies, including trials that measured sleep duration objectively rather than by self-report.

Most of this research comes from clinical and caregiver populations rather than healthy athletes specifically, but the direction is consistent: less stress hormone, more actual sleep.

Injury prevention

Promising, still developing

Regular massage is associated with fewer musculoskeletal injuries and improved range of motion in the studies that have looked at it, largely through better tissue quality, reduced tension, and improved biomechanics.

The research base here is thinner than for recovery, more observational than randomized, so think of this as a reasonable expectation, not a guarantee.

Performance

Here's where we're staying honest

A widely cited meta-analysis in the British Journal of Sports Medicine found massage doesn't significantly improve sprint speed, jump height, strength, or endurance on its own.

What it does improve: flexibility, and the psychological side of performance, lower perceived fatigue, better mood, reduced anxiety heading into training or competition. If you're looking for a shortcut to a faster mile, this isn't it. If you're looking for a way to show up to training feeling like your body is actually on your side, that's what the research supports.

The studies referenced cover massage therapy broadly. None were conducted on robotic massage or at ARC.

Why robotic massage specifically

The research above covers massage broadly. What a robotic massage session adds is consistency: the same precise pressure, in the same spot, every single session, because it's working from a fresh 3D scan and your own settings, not a hand that gets tired over a long day.

You set it. It holds it.

Sports massage for athletes in Chicago and Miami.

Built for how athletes actually train: the session is in the same building as the workout.

The ARC recovery room at INA Spa, River North.

River North · Chicago

INA Spa × RAW Gym

River North pairs ARC Recovery with RAW Gym and INA Spa, so training and recovery happen in the same building. Book 30 minutes or longer and get a free RAW Gym day pass plus an INA class that day.

Midtown · Miami

Elev8tion Fitness

Midtown Miami pairs ARC Recovery with Elev8tion Fitness the same way: train, then recover, without leaving the building.

Build recovery into the week.

Whether you're training for a race, playing in a weekend league, or just trying to make it through leg day without limping into Tuesday, recovery works best when it's built into the week, not scheduled as a separate errand.
